Over the past 12 years I've worked as a writer and editor, mostly in the world of hair and beauty. Although I gained a degree in Fine Art and Photography, my love for writing - and beauty products - led me to email former Style Editor of Metro, Bel Jacobs, and ask about freelance work. From there I went on to intern at Wallpaper* magazine, before making the leap to live and work in Dubai. Working on a start-up English speaking newspaper, I set up a Style Desk and made the newspaper the first UAE-based daily to cover the international Fashion Weeks, thanks to a sponsorship deal with a major department store.
From there I moved on to work for popular Dubai glossies, such as Emirates Woman, before becoming Editor at Society Dubai, a title dedicated to culture and lifestyle. This is where I was lucky enough to interview the likes of icons such as Paulo Coelho, Diane Von Furstenberg, Mary J Blige and many more. It's also where I broadened my subject matter to finance, art, architecture and food - and also had a dating column! Hmmm...
After two and a half years of living in the so-called 'sandpit', I decided to move back to the UK. On arriving in London in 2009, I became editor of Salon Business, a B2B hair magazine that needed a complete re-design and re-think. After changing the magazine's entire look and feel, I decided it was time to take my future into my own hands. In 2011, working with a fellow hair industry journalist, I set up a consumer hair and beauty online magazine, sohairobsessed.com, while also building a small creative agency, working with brands such as ghd, Hair by Sleek and Capital Hair & Beauty.
Today I'm loving working with brands and entrepreneurs who want to stand out with words, whether that's via social media, newsletters, informative blogs, in-depth educational brochures or branding. If you need help with content about anything from food and fashion to beauty and art - pretty much everything bar techno music - get in touch!
